This work was painted for an exhibition which was cancelled, a common theme these days! I have always loved these Oriental Lilies for their perfume and for their serene appearance and the effect of purity they portray.  The reference  was a recent photograph I took of a bunch of lilies which I couldn't resist painting. The folds and curves of the silky soft petals are a delight to paint and, I hope, to look upon! This work comes with it's own solid timber frame, which I feel gives a solid, elegant finish to the work. The sides of the canvas are painted black to create an even shadow-line within the frame.
